Fitment

Wheels and lift kits

Aftermarket wheels, lift kits and accessories, fitted with the geometry and clearances checked rather than assumed.

Chapter 01

Fitment is where these jobs go wrong

A wheel that is the right diameter can still be the wrong wheel. Offset and backspacing decide whether the tire sits where the suspension expects it, and getting them wrong shows up as rubbing on full lock, fouled brake calipers or a stance that quietly loads the wheel bearings.

The same is true of a lift. Raising a truck changes the steering and suspension angles, and a lift fitted without resetting the geometry will chew through a new set of tires while the truck looks exactly how the owner wanted.

How we approach a wheel and tire package

We start with the truck and what it does, then work out what will physically fit before anyone talks about looks. Diameter, width, offset and tire size all have to agree, and on a lifted truck they have to agree at full articulation and full steering lock, not just standing still in the bay.

Fitting includes proper torque, balance on the new assembly, and checking clearances on lock before the vehicle leaves. Where a lift has changed the geometry, alignment is part of the job rather than a separate conversation later.

Come and talk it through at 6903 Lyons Ave or call (713) 234-0629. This is the kind of job that is much easier to get right before the parts are bought.

Chapter 03

After the build

Retorque the wheels after the first hundred miles or so. New fitments settle, and a nut that felt right in the bay can be loose a week later. It takes a couple of minutes and it prevents the worst outcome on this list.

Then watch the wear pattern over the first few thousand miles. Uneven shoulder wear on a freshly lifted truck is the geometry telling you it needs setting properly, and catching it early is the difference between an alignment and an alignment plus tires.
